06/19/2007 - Philadelphia, PA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Philadelphia Eagles tight end Mike Bartrum announced his retirement on Tuesday.

Bartrum, a 13-year veteran, suffered a herniated disk in his neck during a loss to the Colts last season and was unable to recover.

Known primarily as a long snapper, Bartrum spent the last seven seasons with Philadelphia, reaching the Pro Bowl in 2005. In 188 career games, Bartrum caught 11 passes, six of which were for touchdowns.

Bartrum became a long snapper in college under Marshall offensive coordinator Greg Briner's urging. After playing with the Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers, and New England Patriots, Bartrum signed with the Eagles in 2000.

Jon Dorenbos took over for Bartrum as long snapper last season and will most likely continue that role in 2007.

For example, the Over/Under total on Super Bowl XXXIX was 48, which means a bettor could wager whether there would be more or less than 48 points scored by both teams combined in the game.
